COVID 19: Samuel Grey Horse of Austin—Tips Have All But Dried Up

Austin activist, street personality, horseman, and musician Samuel Grey Horse

Considering the ominous warnings for this week, I doubt I’ll be doing any street portraits for a while. But, I sure am glad I took a trip downtown to see how COVID-19 is affecting some of Austin's colorful personalities. The trip up Congress Ave. was surreal indeed.

This photo was shot this afternoon! Sunday afternoon on South Congress, Austin Texas. Three weeks ago there were throngs of people and cars on this famous strip, enjoying live music.

Samuel Grey Horse is a native Austinite, and a genuinely cool dude. Sometimes you’ll catch him riding one of his beautiful horses around downtown. Or, you might experience him jamming with he Greyhounds on a Saturday night. It was heartwarming to hear a dear friend call out to him and chit chat.

Tips from locals and tourists have all but dried up for Samuel and other local flavor.

Samuel is of Apache and Spanish decent.
